We met a 92-year-old man named Walter in Naples who had his trailer roof damaged beyond repair in Irma. He has lived in this home for 45 years with everything he had gathered along the way. The first time we met him, he was gracious and completely aware of his situation, yet very calm. We left him money but knew we needed to do more. The next day, we took our crew back to help organize and remove the moldy items he had gathered throughout his life. The pictures tell the rest of the story!
God gives these people a special spirit of survival. We don't all have the same struggles but everyone has their cross. Without valleys of darkness people can't grow. We learn to suffer well. We can either suffer in a ditch or stand up and suffer.
